Some Poems
how does a river decide where to run? (2023)
skip stones across across me
finding the spots to touch lightly
shhhhhhhh until the clearest voice —
the current — is loudest
straight to the source
melting ancients singing
look how many ways you could unfold?
gravity, wear me down the path of
least resistance — not the easiest
but where I can be of most service
where I can join other waters
and surrender to our oneness
where is my ocean?
who are my tributaries?
my mouth is empty, gravity
meander me
relationship broth (2023)
we left our relationship
a thick stock
on the burner and
after a year of letting it simmer
we come together for one last meal
only the nutrients are left
the most real life affirming bone and marrow only gratitude dragging our spoons
through broth so dense
sip slowly
mouths agape
take it all
in
curiously
in the gaps between speaking
we arrive at slightly different ways of saying the same things and after we really hear each other after we abandon ourselves long enough to understand
after we swallow
after we stop seeking to be understood
after we digest
we never speak again
opposites met
slurping
truth soupy
Spell for Distraction (2022)
regretting forgetting
accepting forgetting
learning from re-remembering
reclaiming distraction
my attention is mine bitch
i love the way my mind wanders
and my pathlessness
my questions
are my gift
a poem without breath (2022)
